What changes the price

Why the same ad costs more in one paper than another

Four things move the number. Nothing else is added at checkout.

Paper & edition

Reach sets the rate. A single city edition costs far less than the full multi-city run of the same title.

Category

Matrimonial, property and recruitment sit on separate rate cards — the same paper prices each of them differently.

Length & day

Priced per line above a minimum block, so extra lines add up. Sunday and bumper editions carry a premium.

Enhancements

Tick, bold, border, a box or a photo each add a fixed amount on top of the base rate.

One order, every paper

Book many newspapers in a single window

Add a national + a regional paper to one order, pay once, track it together. The #1 reason advertisers choose us.

What price-shoppers ask

Two ways. A text classified is charged per line (a minimum-line ad on most papers). A classified display (with a box, logo or photo) is charged per sq. cm. Colour, premium pages and Sunday editions cost a little more. 5% GST is added — and shown — before you pay.

Online booking is already discounted versus the counter rate. On top, volume combos like Book 10, get 6 free and 2-paper bundles cut the per-insertion cost sharply for repeat or multi-paper ads.

Yes — the figure shown is the rate you book at, including GST. No surprise quote later. If you find the same ad cheaper elsewhere, we’ll match it.

Often, yes — and they can reach more of your local readers for the money. That’s why we surface regional dailies in the compare table, not just the big English papers.

Newspaper ad rates

How to find
newspaper ad rates.

There is no single newspaper advertisement rate. What you pay depends on the newspaper, the edition, the category, the length or size of the ad and the day it runs — which is why a quote can range from a few hundred rupees to several lakh.

Newspaper ad rates are published per newspaper and per edition, not per country, so the honest answer to "what does a newspaper ad cost" always begins with a question back: which paper, which city, and what kind of ad? The rate finder on this page settles exactly that — pick your category, newspaper and city and it returns the live rate that applies, along with any multi-edition package that includes your edition.

Classified text ads are charged by the line or by the word, with a minimum that most short notices reach anyway. Classified display and display ads are charged by the square centimetre, so the price is width × height × the edition's rate. On top of the base rate, a premium day (Sunday for matrimonial and property, the appointments supplement for recruitment), a specific page, or colour will each cost more. Every figure we show adds 5% GST, and the rate you see is the rate you book at.

How to find the rate for your ad

Four steps to a real number, not an estimate.

  1. 1
    Pick your ad type
Classified text for a few printed lines, classified display for a bordered box in the classified pages, or a display ad for space on the news pages. The three are priced on completely different bases, so this comes first.
  2. 2
    Choose category, newspaper and city
The rate finder returns the live per-line or per-square-centimetre rate for that exact combination, taken from the newspaper's current rate card rather than an average.
  3. 3
    Compare editions and packages
A neighbouring edition often costs far less for nearly the same readers, and a multi-edition package can undercut booking those cities one at a time. Both are shown next to the single-edition rate so the comparison is visible.
  4. 4
    Add GST and book
The total shown includes 5% GST. Book before the edition cut-off and the ad runs in the next day's paper, at a guaranteed lowest price.

What a display ad costs

Display advertisements — a front-page strip, a quarter page, a half page or a full page — are quoted per square centimetre against the edition's display rate card, so a full page in a metro edition runs into lakhs while the same size in a district edition can cost a small fraction of that. Display space is also perishable: the printed rack rate is a starting point rather than the final price, and what you actually pay depends on the date, the page and what is unsold. Tell us the newspaper, size and date and we will come back with the real number.
